Who is buying pool service companies?
15 named consolidator platforms are actively acquiring US pool service businesses; 14 of them are private-equity-backed. Typical pool service acquisitions price at 4.5x-9x EBITDA (3x-5.5x SDE for smaller owner-operated businesses), per published ranges from Founders Advisors and HedgeStone Business Advisors. The most recent named acquisition tracked on this page closed in September 2026.
Why pool service companies are consolidating
- •IBISWorld counts 78,817 businesses in the US swimming pool cleaning services industry in 2025, up at a 2.9% compound annual rate since 2020, and says no company holds more than 5% of the market, according to IBISWorld.
- •US swimming pool cleaning services revenue was on track to reach an estimated $8.8 billion by the end of 2025, after growing at a 4.2% compound annual rate from 2020, according to IBISWorld.
- •A PitchBook-sourced deal-volume chart for 2020 to 2025 shows a roughly 44% deal CAGR, though its footnote says it includes all middle-market deals, not only pool deals, according to Founders Advisors' Q1 2026 Pool Services M&A Update.
- •By July 2026, SPS PoolCare, which calls itself the largest US pool service company, served more than 50,000 weekly recurring customers after more than 220 acquisitions since its 2021 founding, according to SPS PoolCare.
- •From 2023 through Q3 2025, Western swimming-pool deals were mostly done by financial investors, including PE-backed companies, and the high share of financial buyers shows the relevance of buy-and-build strategies in pool service, according to Fortlane Partners' October 2025 swimming pool M&A snapshot.

In January 2026 it took over Pool Troopers, which had been Shoreline Equity's platform and the #2 operator. Shoreline kept a minority stake, and Balance Point Capital provided the debt. - Headquarters
- Saddle Brook, NJ
- Scale
- Thirteen businesses serving seven states and DC across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic (Aug 2026)
O2 formed the platform in June-July 2024 from five pool companies and named it Azureon in October 2024. Azureon's Pooltek Services (Rockville, MD) is a different company from PoolTek Pool Services, an AquaVerse brand.
Easton Select Group
Private equity- Owner
- Brenton Point Capital Partners (lead equity; founding owners kept a meaningful stake)
- Headquarters
- Easton, MA
- Scale
- 15 brands listed in its portfolio across Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and Connecticut (Oct 2026)
Its press releases are datelined Easton, MA, but the site footer gives 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA. Brenton Point is quoted as an investor in a September 2026 release.
AquaVerse
Private equity- Owner
- Trivest Partners; Balance Point Capital provided debt and equity (Jul 2026)
- Headquarters
- Palm Beach, FL
- Scale
- Eight consumer-facing brands across Florida, Georgia and Tennessee serving more than 10,000 customers (Jun 2026)
Its other seven brands (Pool Service Unlimited, Terry's Pool Service, PB Pool Doc, PoolTek Pool Services, Caribbean Pools, West Meade Pools, Jeff Wilson Pool Service) are named, but no acquisition dates or cities have been published for them. Balance Point's July 2026 release says its capital is to support multiple acquisitions.
Cabana
Private equity- Owner
- Founder-led (Jeremy Yamaguchi); venture-backed, with investors not named in any source read
- Headquarters
- San Diego, CA
- Scale
- 5,000+ residential and commercial customers (Jun 2026)
It is venture-backed with no PE sponsor, and is filed under 'Private equity' only because there is no venture owner type. Pool & Spa News says it was founded in April 2024. It is unrelated to Cabana, the Seattle travel startup, and its Cody's Pool Service (Sacramento) is unrelated to Cody Pools (Austin, TX).
Gold Medal Pools
Private equity- Owner
- Tenex Capital Management
- Headquarters
- Dallas–Fort Worth area, TX
- Scale
- Says it serves North Texas (Dallas–Fort Worth); it announced its 21st company acquisition in September 2023
Medium confidence on current ownership. Tenex's portfolio page lists Gold Medal as Current, but its January 2026 Aqua Alliance release names Gold Medal among its 'past investments'. The HQ city is also unresolved: 2019 press headlines say Frisco and PitchBook/ZoomInfo say Lewisville. Trade press calls it mainly a pool builder.

- Imperial Capital; Liberty Mutual Investments (investor since May 2024)
- Headquarters
- Tampa, FL
- Scale
- Combined pest control and pool service platform employing more than 1,000 professionals (Jan 2026)

- Tamarix Equity Partners
- Headquarters
- Rivervale, NJ
- Scale
- Pool service businesses across New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware; on track to service over 8,000 pools in 2025

- Headquarters
- San Mateo, CA
- Scale

- Headquarters
- Austin, TX
- Scale
- Over 400 employees and 15 design centers serving San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Phoenix and Orlando (Apr 2025)

Landmark Aquatic
Private equity- Owner
- Bow River Capital (founding owners kept a meaningful stake)

Selling in your state?
What pool service businesses sell for, who is buying, and how many there are, state by state.
Frequently asked
What multiple do pool service companies sell for?
It depends on size. HedgeStone Business Advisors puts pool service businesses at 3x–5.5x SDE (seller's discretionary earnings) and 4.5x–8.5x EBITDA. Founders Advisors' Q1 2026 update puts middle-market pool service businesses at 7.0x–9.0x EBITDA, up from 6x–8x in its 2024 edition.
Is maintenance revenue worth more than construction revenue to a buyer?
Yes. Founders Advisors' 2024 buyer feedback says recurring revenue from maintenance and cleaning is more attractive than construction revenue. Its Q1 2026 middle-market ranges are 7.0x–9.0x EBITDA for pool services, 4.0x–6.0x for pool retail and 3.0x–5.0x for pool construction.
Who is acquiring pool service companies right now?
SPS PoolCare (Storr Group) is the largest buyer. It has made more than 220 acquisitions since 2021, including Pool Troopers in January 2026 and most of Amenity Pool Services' operations in May 2026. Azureon (O2 Investment Partners) made its 13th acquisition in August 2026. Easton Select Group (Brenton Point Capital) is buying across New England. AquaVerse (Trivest Partners) launched in June 2026 with eight brands in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Cabana and California Pool Partners are buying in California.
What raises the multiple a buyer will pay?
Founders Advisors' valuation scorecard links higher EBITDA multiples to several factors: recurring revenue above 50%, customer churn below 20%, construction and retail under 20% of revenue, EBITDA margins above 20%, and more than five markets served. It also notes that investors look for a W-2 workforce rather than 1099 contractors.
Will my brand and team stay after a sale?
Several recent buyers have said so publicly. Easton Select Group said J. Gallant Pool would keep its brand and that owner Jay Gallant would stay. Gold Medal Pools said West Side Pools & Service would keep its name and leadership. SPS PoolCare said it would keep Pool Troopers' field teams intact, and Payan Pools kept its branding under California Pool Partners. These statements come from the buyers' own announcements and trade press.
How fragmented is the pool service industry?
Very fragmented. IBISWorld counts 78,817 US swimming pool cleaning businesses in 2025 and says no company holds more than 5% of the market. Even SPS PoolCare, the largest operator, serves just over 50,000 weekly recurring customers.
Methodology & sources
Compiled in October 2026 from acquirer and sponsor press releases, PE portfolio pages and pool trade press (AQUA, Pool & Spa News, PoolPro, PE Professional). An adversarial second pass then re-fetched every cited page and checked each owner, HQ, scale figure, deal, date and location against the page itself. It also ran Parallel searches for 2025-2026 sales, recapitalizations and missed consolidators. Multiples come only from published advisor reports (Founders Advisors, HedgeStone Business Advisors). Platform revenue and EBITDA are private and left out.
