Who is buying roofing businesses?
Why roofing is consolidating
- •Private equity has flooded into roofing: the number of PE-backed roofing platforms grew from 17 at the start of 2023 to 56 by the end of 2024 (+229%), and PE-backed firms now account for 7 of the 10 largest US roofing contractors — more than $4B in combined annual revenue (Roofing Contractor, 2025).
- •The market is highly fragmented: across roughly 100,000 US roofing contractors, the top 10 hold under 10% of the market and even the largest player (Tecta America) holds only about 2.7% — the classic roll-up setup (NRCA / FMI Consulting; Hyde Park Capital, 2025).
- •Disclosed roofing M&A jumped from about 7 deals in 2018 to 53+ in 2024, split across both commercial (re-roof + maintenance) and residential (storm / insurance-driven) platforms (Hyde Park Capital, 2025).

Frequently asked
Who are the largest roofing consolidators in the US?
On the commercial side: Tecta America (Altas Partners + Leonard Green), Nations Roof (AEA Investors) and Roofing Corporation of America (FirstService, public). On the residential side: Infinity Home Services (LightBay + Freeman Spogli), Omnia Exterior Solutions (CCMP), Best Choice Roofing (Brightstar) and Skyline Roofing Partners (Imperial Capital).
Is private equity buying roofing companies?
Yes, aggressively. The number of PE-backed roofing platforms grew from 17 to 56 during 2024, PE now owns 7 of the 10 largest US roofing contractors, and disclosed roofing M&A rose from ~7 deals in 2018 to 53+ in 2024.
What multiple do roofing companies sell for?
Established roofing businesses typically sell for about 5x-9x EBITDA, with commercial platforms carrying recurring maintenance and re-roof revenue commanding the higher end. Smaller owner-operated residential shops are often valued on an SDE basis around 3x-6x.
How do I sell my roofing business to a consolidator?
DealSeam works confidentially with roofing owners to understand their options and, where there is a fit, introduces them to qualified buyers — with the buyer paying the success fee, so sellers pay nothing. DealSeam is not a traditional business broker.
Methodology & sources
Platforms were identified from roofing M&A trade press and PE-advisory reports (Roofing Contractor, FMI Consulting, Hyde Park Capital), then each one’s current owner, headquarters and scale were verified against a primary public source (the platform’s own site, the PE sponsor’s portfolio page, or a dated press release). Anything that could not be confirmed against a primary source was excluded rather than estimated. Revenue and EBITDA are private for the PE-backed operators and are intentionally not published (trade-press figures such as Tecta’s ~$1.4B are attributed, not stated as audited facts); Roofing Corporation of America is public via FirstService. The multiple band shown is industry-typical, not any single deal’s multiple. Not all of roofing is PE: large operators such as CentiMark (family/employee-owned), Baker Roofing (a 2025 ESOP) and Flynn (family-controlled) grow organically and were excluded as non-acquirers, as were pure franchisors and direct-to-consumer remodelers that do not buy roofing contractors. The market-size and fragmentation figures are sourced externally (NRCA, FMI Consulting, Hyde Park Capital, Roofing Contractor). Last updated June 2026.
